Title: Target rebellion
I don’t know how you set targets in your company. Are targets set by a manager without a closer reflection on how to reach them, or are they worked out in collaboration with the people who are to achieve them?
Targets should always contain elements of ambition. Along with defining the targets one should develop a plan on how to reach the set targets. For example targets could be achieved by doing something different from what you previously did. Then these plans may include activities related to
- New strategic initiatives
- Capital investments
- New products/ services
- New processes
- New customers
- New regions &
- New partners
If your managers have a habit of setting targets "above your head" without a plan of how to reach them, I strongly advise you to rebel against the targets set. It is then time for you to join the Target Rebellion.
